UPDATE: Nitro pharmacy robbery suspect caught – WSAZ-TV

NITRO, W.Va. (WSAZ) — UPDATE 12/21/18 @ 4:06 p.m.
A man from Detroit was arrested Friday in connection with a robbery earlier that day at the pharmacy at the Nitro Walmart.

Terrence Darnell Matthews Jr. is charged with first-degree robbery accessory.

The robbery happened around 11:15 a.m. Friday when a man jumped over the pharmacy counter and took some bottles of narcotics.

Law enforcement officers, including city police and West Virginia State Police, are continuing a search in Putnam County to find other people believed to be involved.

Walmart released the following statement about the incident:

“We appreciate the quick actions by the Nitro Police department that resulted in one arrest. We will continue to assist law enforcement however we can in their efforts to apprehend those responsible. Because this is an ongoing investigation, we’re referring all requests for information to authorities.”

Matthews will be taken to the South Central Regional Jail. His bond is $ 50,000 cash.

Nitro Police are looking for a man who stole narcotics from the pharmacy at the Nitro Walmart.

It happened about 11:15 a.m. Friday.

Nitro Police Chief Bobby Eggleton tells WSAZ the man walked into the store, jumped over the pharmacy counter and took some bottles of narcotics. At this time, the pharmacy doesn’t know how much he got away with.

The Chief also says the man was last seen in the area of 817 and Hurricane Creek road. The public is asked to be on the lookout for the man in the picture.

Right now, officers are out looking for the man.

No other information is being released at this time.
